While the spread of Corona 19 in Japan is very strong, four governors in the metropolitan area, including Tokyo, have demanded an emergency problem from the government.

Amid the rapid spread of Corona 19 in Japan, the governor of Tokyo, Koike, lobbied the government.

In Tokyo, there were more than 800 new confirmed cases yesterday, after a record 1,300 on December 31.

Governor Koike met yesterday (day 2) with the Minister in charge of Economic Regeneration, Nishimura, who is in charge of the Corona Countermeasures and requested the prompt issuance of the emergency.

The governors of three metropolitan area prefectures, Chiba, Saitama and Kanagawa, also joined in the request for an emergency declaration.

Minister Nishimura also said: “We share the perception that the situation was serious” and “we will review the request.”

The number of new confirmed cases in Japan, which reached a record 4,500 on December 31, also came out yesterday (second).

The accumulated number of confirmed cases exceeded 240,000 and the death toll reached 3,580.

Since November last year, as the rate of spread of the crown in Japan has accelerated, there has been criticism that the emergency should be declared again, but Suga’s cabinet has consistently remained passive.

Noteworthy is the decision that Prime Minister Suga will make when the governor of Tokyo comes out and publicly pressures the Japanese government, which is in trouble with a drop in approval ratings.
