Tomorrow the Ministry of Justice will carry out a fifth total inspection against the East Detention Center.

Minister Choo Mi-ae, who did not appear in the charge in which the Ministry of Justice admitted the breach of quarantine in prisons.

As criticism mounted, I apologized for the first time via SNS in a day.

Minister Chu said that as the minister in charge of prison affairs, he said that he was very sorry that he caused people concern.

However, instead of the postponement of the Ministry of Justice, they cited structural problems such as the inevitable concentration of fields and high-rise buildings as the main cause of the situation.

The first confirmed cases at the Eastern Detention Center occurred in late November last year, but Minister Chu visited the site after another month and was criticized for procrastinating.

Even before the group infection, the masks were not provided properly, and even if they complained about the suspicious symptoms of Corona 19, they claimed that only cold medications were prescribed without additional quarantine measures or tests etc.

As a result of the fourth full-time inspection of inmates and employees at the Dongbu Detention Center, more than 126 people were confirmed and the number of related confirmed cases is now approaching 1,000.

As for the confirmation rate, it exceeds 30%.

The Ministry of Justice decided to return to the fifth full inspection after three days.

It was decided to raise the distance from the penitentiary establishments nationwide to three stages, and minimize the schedule of investigations and trials called by the Prosecutor’s Office.

However, it seems unlikely that the spread of group infections in prisons will decrease, as confirmed cases and deaths occur among prisoners who have been transferred from the eastern detention center to other prisons.
