On the 29th, 31 new confirmed cases of Corona 19 in Busan. The spread of infection between nursing hospitals and families continued, and confirmed cases were also found in social care centers for the elderly.
The city of Busan said in a briefing on Corona 19’s response that afternoon, “2 people in the afternoon of the previous day and 29 people in the morning of the day were also confirmed.” Excluding Nam-gu, more than one patient was found in all districts and counties.
The total number of cases in Busan was 1,778 and 6,759 were self-quarantined. On this day, the number of suspected patient tests was 1862.
Looking at the main routes of infection, a confirmed case reoccurred at Haetrak Nursing Hospital in Buk-gu, where the cluster infection occurred in October. These are Busan patients 1753, 1754, and 1755, and they are inpatients and nurses.
The day before, the confirmed patient from 1749 in Busan was identified as the caretaker of this hospital. The city assumed that they were all in contact with the same neighborhood. Additionally, the family of patient 1749 also tested positive and there were 5 confirmed cases related to Haetrak Nursing Hospital.
Only 50 days after release from quarantine in the same group (cohort) in early November, the spread of the infection was confirmed at Haetrak Nursing Hospital, which had escaped from the situation of 86 people. The city is conducting an in-depth epidemiological investigation into the route of the infection. Ahn Byung-seon, head of the Civil Defense Promotion Division, said: “It is not an extension of past infection, but the beginning of a new transmission of infection. We plan to determine the situation in the ward and establish standards quarantine”.
At Inchang Nursing Hospital, one more person was confirmed and the total number of confirmed patients increased to 147. Jeil Nara Nursing Hospital also examined 254 patients and 148 employees, and two more patients were confirmed. There are 45 confirmed cases in this nursing hospital.
Several people also tested positive at welfare facilities for the elderly. Patients 1759 and 1776 are workers at Center A, a welfare center for the elderly. Patients 1772 and 1773, who were admitted to Center B of other welfare facilities for the elderly, were also confirmed as confirmed cases.
Patients 1748, 1749, 1758, 1769, 1769, 1767, 1769, 1772, 1773, and 1775 are currently investigating the source of infection. In addition to these, most of the patients were infected with relatives and acquaintances, and contacted cases with existing confirmed cases.
There are also nursing hospitals whose isolation from the same group has been lifted. The city announced: “The test results of 121 patients and 86 employees at Dean Sacred Heart Care Hospital in isolation were negative. The quarantine will be lifted at noon this day.”
Of the patients who received hospital treatment, 39 were discharged and the cumulative number of those released from quarantine increased to 1,295. Two patients died, resulting in 47 deaths. Of these, 36 were deaths related to nursing hospitals. There are 262 of the 300 inpatient quarantine beds and 38 are available. Of the 22 beds in critical condition, 7 were left.
Meanwhile, the number of new confirmed cases across the country returned to 1,000. The headquarters of quarantine countermeasures announced that the number of new confirmed cases increased by 1046 at 0:00 a day, accumulating 58,725.
