[전국]Child abuse 1 year … victims still suffer

Remember the case of child abuse in the national and public kindergarten in Jung-gu, Ulsan, which was revealed through the media in June?

Although the case has been investigated by the police and is currently in process, the pain of the victims’ parents is said to persist.

Reporter Dong-young Kim from JCN in Ulsan met with the victims.

A national and public kindergarten in Ulsan.

In the midst of the children playing with a Styrofoam ball, the nursery teacher nervously throws the ball at a child.

Even after that, the ball flies over the child’s head several times.

Another day, when the boy waved his hand to the nursery teacher, she grabbed him by force and forced him to hit his head.

The case of child abuse in a national and public kindergarten in Jung-gu, which occurred last year and only became known in June this year.

Victims continue to experience abnormal symptoms for the first year since the abuse occurred and are receiving psychological treatment.

[피해 아동 학부모 : 한번씩 영상에 나왔던 선생님 행동을 그대로 또 따라 해서…벽을 치거나 자기 머리를 때릴 때가 있거든요.]

The teacher was admitted to some charges in a police investigation and the trial is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the victims had to go through days of suffering.

Despite what happened in a national or public nursery, local governments were passive in alleviating the damage and said they had to wait for the outcome of the trial.

[피해 아동 학부모 : 피해 정황을 확인하기 위해서 전화를 하거나 면담 요청한 적도 없고 경찰한테도 연락을 안 해보고, 그럼 내용을 어떻게 알고 있냐고 하니 원장에게 듣고 있다는 거예요. 당시 원장은 가해자로 경찰 조사 중이었거든요.]

Basic psychological counseling for victims was also lacking.

[피해 아동 학부모 : (지원하는 심리치료가) 고작 3회로 끝난다는 게 너무 이해가 안 되고 부족하단 생각이 들어서 우리 아이들 심리치료는 더 지원이 되냐, 어떻게 하냐 하니 ‘그건 할 수 없다. 가해자한테 민사 소송을 해서 받을 수밖에 없다’고 하는 거예요. 다른 어머니 같은 경우는 한 달에 100만 원 정도 들여서까지 심리치료를 받고 있고…]

In the end, the parents had to deal with most of the problems themselves, from reporting child abuse to psychological treatment.

Despite these complaints, the local government is in the position that related matters were handled according to procedures.

He drew a line that the part of the psychological counseling of the victims was carried out exclusively by specialized children’s organizations.

A year after the occurrence of child abuse, the wounds of the families of the victims are getting worse amid mismanagement by local governments.
