A treatment bed dedicated to critically ill patients with a new type of coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the metropolitan area is bottoming out. Only 3 of 152 left.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Incheon City and Gyeonggi Province on the 16th, the number of special treatment beds for seriously ill patients of these metropolitan organizations is 78, 25 and 49, respectively, and the remaining beds are 1 , 2 and 0 respectively.
In Seoul’s case, facilities for seriously ill, moderately ill and mildly ill patients may soon become scarce.
In particular, with the number of recently confirmed cases in Seoul approaching 400 per day in recent years, the remaining beds in the life treatment center for seriously ill patients and mildly ill patients faced a crisis that may be exhausted by the half day.
In the case of the Seoul Life Therapy Center, where patients with mild symptoms are treated, 1,171 of the 1,929 beds in nine are in use and 245 are immediately available.
The operating rate of hospital beds dedicated to infectious diseases in Seoul, where seriously ill or moderate patients are treated, is currently 85.7%, which is close to the limit considering preparations for admission and discharge.
In response, Seoul decided to secure 278 beds by designating five additional hospitals by the end of the year, starting with the Red Cross Hospital on the 21st as a dedicated infectious disease hospital.
Additionally, 18 additional treatment beds for seriously ill patients are planned to be sequentially secured by the end of the year, including two this week.
In addition, a ‘dedicated recovery period hospital’ of up to 40 beds will be operated at Seoul Paik Hospital and H + Yangji Hospital. This facility is for patients who have recovered from Corona 19 infection but need treatment for other underlying conditions.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government also decided to operate nine “near-critical patient beds” sequentially until the end of the year for patients whose condition improved after being treated in a severe patient bed. It plans to install 150 mobile container-type beds equipped with negative pressure installations, etc., and operate them immediately according to the condition of the beds.
Seo said: “We are doing our best to strengthen the public medical system, which has become more urgent due to the increase in demand.”
The situation for medical personnel in Seoul is also reaching its limits.
“There are currently 5.14 doctors and nurses in the field, but the crown 19 situation is dragging on and on the verge of exhaustion.” For this, the broad cooperation and participation of citizens is urgent ”.
“The city of Seoul has already started preparations that took on the status of the third step upgrade and is also considering measures to add positive alpha to the third step. “Please come to me,” he asked.
