On the 11th, ultrafine dust (PM2.5) becomes polarized throughout the country.
According to the National Institute of Environmental Sciences of the Ministry of Environment, the hourly average ultrafine dust concentration in Seoul at 7 am on the day is 69㎍ / ㎥, which is ‘bad’ (36 ~ 75㎍ / ㎥).
It shot up to 94㎍ / ㎥, which was once the “very bad” level (over 76㎍ / ㎥).
Of the 25 districts in Seoul, 5 have an average hourly concentration of ultrafine dust above “very bad.” Guro-gu 94㎍ / ㎥, Nowon-gu 84㎍ / ㎥, Yeongdeungpo-gu 82㎍ / ㎥, Dongdaemun-gu 79㎍ / ㎥, and Jung-gu 78㎍ / ㎥.
The remaining 20 districts show low levels. Dongjak-gu Seocho-gu each of 75㎍ / ㎥, Gangnam-gu, Gangdong-gu, Mapo-gu, Yangcheon-gu and Jongno-gu each of 73㎍ / ㎥, Gangseo-gu and Gwangjin-gu each one of 70b / ㎥, Dobong-gu and Seongdong-gu each of 64㎍ / ㎥ and Geumbuon-gu each,, Songpa-gu 63㎍ / ㎥, Gwanak-gu and Jungnang-gu 61㎍ / ㎥ each, Eunpyeong-gu 60㎍ / ㎥, Gangbuk-gu 56㎍ / ㎥, Yongsan-gu 55㎍ / ㎥, and Seodaemun-gu 38㎍ / ㎥.
The city of Seoul issued an ultrafine dust advisory at 11 p.m. the previous day. The ultra-fine dust advisory is issued when the hourly average concentration lasts more than 75㎍ / ㎥ for 2 hours. This is the fifth time an ultrafine dust advisory has been issued in Seoul this year, and the second in the second half.
The places where ultrafine dust concentration is low are Gyeonggi (65㎍ / ㎥), Incheon (55㎍ / ㎥), Chungbuk (53㎍ / ㎥), Sejong (52㎍ / ㎥) and Chungnam (51㎍ / ㎥) , Gangwon (44㎍ / ㎥), Gyeongbuk (37㎍ / ㎥) and Jeonbuk (36㎍ / ㎥) are eight cities and provinces. In particular, it temporarily increased to 110㎍ / ㎥ in the Gyeonggi area.
An official from the Institute of Environmental Sciences said: “Seoul and Gyeonggi-do are expected to be temporarily ‘very bad’ in the morning, and Gangwon Yeongdong, Gwangju, Daegu and Gyeongbuk are expected to be ‘bad’ in the morning.” “The effect of fine dust accumulation and the introduction of foreign fine dust”.
The high concentration of ultrafine dust will continue on the 12th. Currently, southern Gyeonggi, Chungcheong region, Gwangju and Jeonbuk are expected to show a “bad” level.
The ultrafine dust concentration level is ‘good’ (0 ~ 15㎍ / ㎥), ‘normal’ (16 ~ 35㎍ / ㎥), ‘bad’ (36 ~ 75㎍ / ㎥) and ‘very bad’ (76 ㎍ / ㎥) ㎥ or more).
Ultrafine dust has a smaller particle size than fine dust, so it does not filter through the nasal mucosa and penetrates deep into the body, increasing the prevalence and early mortality of asthma and lung diseases.
Children, the elderly, and people with respiratory diseases should wear a health mask that can protect the respiratory system from harmful particles such as yellow dust and fine dust, rather than a surgical or cotton mask called a dental mask.
