While the government has decided to introduce the Corona 19 vaccine from the first half of next year, it is expected that when more than half of people are vaccinated, herd immunity will form and it will be possible to return to everyday life.

Along with this, the government said that the AstraZeneca vaccine produced in domestic factories will be supplied first in Korea.

The amount of COVID-19 vaccine insured by the Korean government is for 44 million people, which is the amount that 88% of people can receive.

While the US and Japan have announced that they have obtained vaccines from 2 to 5 times the population, some point out that Korea is too small.

The government explained that when half of the people complete the vaccination, group immunity will develop and the number of confirmed patients will drop dramatically and it is possible to return to daily life.

Therefore, even countries with more vaccines than the population predicted that the final number of vaccines to be introduced would be less than originally planned.

The government plans to start vaccination from the first quarter of next year, so it is possible to completely overcome Corona 19 by vaccination during the next year.

In particular, in relation to foreign media reports that a problem has occurred at the AstraZeneca plant, which is causing an interruption in production, he explained that there is no problem because the vaccine produced at the national plant is supplied first.

He also refuted that the AstraZeneca vaccine is more dangerous than other vaccines and that the side effects are less severe than the Modena and Pfizer vaccines.

However, he added that AstraZeneca and Janssen’s viral vector vaccines are less effective after multiple vaccines, so they will consider introducing other vaccines when introducing them later in consideration of effectiveness.

The government also stressed that even considering the delay in vaccine production, all pre-purchased quantities will enter Korea no later than the end of next year.
