In particular, the spread of Corona 19 in the metropolitan area is very serious. Yesterday, I personally visited the Seoul Metropolitan Government to discuss the quarantine measures in the metropolitan area, and today, the Gyeonggi-do Office is holding an important script meeting.
In Gyeonggi-do, there were 214 confirmed cases yesterday, the highest recorded in the province. Since December 2, the number of confirmed cases has been recorded in three digits per day, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the last week has exceeded 1,100.
The government believes that the capital area will be the winning place to break the momentum of this trend and concentrate all its capabilities. In addition to adjusting the distancing stage, we will do our best to provide the necessary quarantine measures, such as preventive inspection, epidemiological investigation, and bed safety.
I sincerely request that the townspeople also respond with participation in quarantine. As the public was informed yesterday, the government has insured 44 million vaccines abroad.
Some countries, such as the United Kingdom, where the Corona 19 situation is more serious, have already started vaccination. The government will put the safety of the people first and do everything it can to ensure that the secured vaccine is vaccinated in a timely manner while closely monitoring the situation in other countries.
I would like to say that we are meticulously preparing for the selection of priority vaccination targets, preparation of storage and distribution systems, post-monitoring systems, and emergency response. It seems that it will take longer for the corona vaccination to work without problems and for the expected effect to be verified.
Until then, the mask is the best vaccine. In fact, at a church gathering in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, where more than 700 people were together, there was no further spread except for confirmed patients due to full use of masks.
Similar cases are found in taxis, elevators and hospitals. Remember that the time when people remove their masks is the most dangerous.
