Lee Amugae, deputy director of the representative secretary’s office, was investigated for violation of the Political Funds Law at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on the 2nd on charges of receiving payment for the use of multifunction devices from an Optimus subsidiary that committed fund fraud.

He stopped investigating this afternoon and disappeared after leaving, but was found dead on the site the next day. Mr. Lee served as Lee’s secretary for district administration and as a political affairs assistant during the Jeonnam branch. She is a person who has helped Lee for more than 10 years.

Chosun Ilbo raised additional suspicions on the 5th, saying: “Mr. Lee’s allegation was that Mr. Lee received a large amount of money in the form of salary from various companies in Jeonnam over a long period of time,” but the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office refuted “not true.”

Some of the passports raised suspicions that the prosecution’s investigation was unreasonable. “The behavior of the prosecution is the same from the time of President Roh Moo-hyun to Lee Nak-yeon’s vice president, Lee,” said Seol-hoon, a member of the Democratic Party. “The prosecution is really cruel and is too investigating this situation. None of the forms of prosecution has changed,” he criticized.
