Korea is known to have some vaccine contracts compared to other countries, as Modena, an American pharmaceutical company, has initiated procedures for the urgent use of a new vaccine against coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the United States and Europe. .

Reduce ‘vaccine contracts’ around the world … Canada insures 10 servings per person

Currently, countries around the world are excitedly revealing the status of contracts with companies preparing to develop a vaccine for Corona 19, such as Pfizer, Modena and AstraZeneca.

The Japanese government announced in October that it signed a contract to receive 50 million doses starting in the first half of next year, when the Corona 19 vaccine being developed by Modena becomes practical. The inoculation is twice per person, equivalent to 25 million people.

The Japanese government contract was not limited to Modena. Moderna is the third company to sign a contract with the Japanese government. Earlier, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare agreed to supply 120 million doses each with Pfizer of the United States and AstraZeneca, a multinational pharmaceutical company.

The total number of vaccines from the three companies amounts to 144,500 people. If the development of the vaccine continues with the current trend without major problems, it is predicted that ‘herd immunity’, in which more than 60% of people have immunity, may appear around July next year when the Olympics begin from Tokyo in Japan.

Other countries have already obtained vaccines in quantities greater than the total population. According to the amount of corona vaccine obtained by major countries compiled by the Center for Innovation in Global Health at Duke University in the United States as of the 20th, Canada has secured 10.9 doses of vaccine per capita. Canada, with a population of approximately 37.7 million, has been confirmed to have purchased 414 million doses of vaccine so far. The second place was the United States, which obtained 7.9 doses of vaccine per capita. The UK was followed by 7.5 servings, Australia 5.3 servings and Chile 4.4 servings.

There are no pharmaceutical companies contracted for vaccines in Korea … “We are not at a disadvantage”

On the other hand, so far, there is not a single pharmaceutical company in which Korea has signed a vaccine contract. Initially, the Korean government announced that it aims to insure 30 million people by this year. It is also considering a plan to ensure vaccines for up to 44 million people, focusing on passports.

However, all the information revealed so far is that 10 million people are being insured through COVAXFacility, the global vaccine supply organization, and the rest are discussing contracts with five pharmaceutical companies. Health and Welfare Minister Park Neung-hoo explained last month that “we are in an unfavorable situation to get a vaccine, as they are urged to sign a contract as soon as possible” regarding Modena and Pfizer.

It has not been clear whether Chinese vaccines are included in the candidates the Korean government is considering running. Joon-wook Kwon, head of the second vice president of the Central Defense Response Headquarters, said at a regular briefing in September that “we are discussing in depth whether to introduce a vaccine made in China.” Im In-taek, director of health industry policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, also said: “We are monitoring the development of vaccines for China’s Sinoparm through diplomatic channels.”

Consequently, it is pointed out that the failure of the Korean government to announce even the types of vaccines is generating public anxiety, while countries around the world are specifying not only pharmaceutical companies but also vaccination schedules.

野 “You are just saying that you are negotiating … you are increasing public anxiety”

The Fortaleza Popular Special Committee on Corona 19 Countermeasures urged the government on day 1 to reveal specific plans to secure 44 million Corona 19 vaccines.

The People’s Power said: “Last September, the government announced that it would ensure 30 million vaccines, which is 60% of the population, and recently changed its plan to ensure 44 million vaccines through the party government.” The important thing is to secure it, but it does not reveal how or how to secure it anywhere. “

“For vaccines that are in phase 3 clinical trials, most of the supply available for next year has already been previously purchased from other countries. US (7.9 doses per person), Canada (10.9 doses), the UK (7.5 doses), Japan (2.3 doses) have secured vaccines that are several times more than the number of their population, while South Korea has been negotiating for several months ”.

“The government has announced that it will insure 10 million vaccines through the Kobex Facility, but it is questionable when it will be possible to secure an additional 1.4 billion, equivalent to 20% of the population of 184 member countries.” As it struggles to stamp out the coronavirus to secure a vaccine, South Korea makes an incomprehensible claim that “the vaccine is scheduled for the second half of next year and there is no need to rush.”

Furthermore, the power of the people marked the day, “Isn’t it just a difficult excuse to overlook the harm done to the people by Corona 19 and hide the government’s incompetence in obtaining vaccines?”

Currently, the government is in a position to announce the exact type and quantity of vaccine in early December. Since the contract is in place, there is no difficulty in obtaining the vaccine, and the public has repeatedly emphasized that there is no need to be anxious.
