From the 1st of next month to March 31 of next year, the operation of vehicles with Class 5 emission is restricted

It also reduces coal power operations.

The government held a briefing today (30) and announced the main points of the ‘Second Seasonal Management System for Fine Dust’, which will be implemented for four months from the 1st of next month.

■ Restricting the operation of vehicles in the metropolitan area without taking low pollution measures … A penalty of 100,000 won per violation.

According to the announcement, among the vehicles of the fifth class of emissions nationwide, vehicles that do not take measures against low pollution cannot operate for 4 months from 6 am to 9 pm on weekdays in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon.

The exceptions are weekends and holidays.

Nor can vehicles registered outside the metropolitan area be operated.

If you violate, you will have to pay a fine of 100,000 won per day.

However, on December 3, when the University Academic Competence Test will be taken, we have decided not to take energetic measures on December 3, considering the suitability of the candidates.

Furthermore, in Incheon and Gyeonggi, vehicles that have requested low-emission measures and vehicles that cannot fit emission reduction devices due to vehicle structures are also excluded from the crackdown.

In Seoul, vehicles that cannot be equipped with emission reduction devices are excluded from the crackdown until the end of this year.

After that, a fine will be imposed, and if the low-pollution measures are completed by November next year, the money will be returned or canceled when the car is scrapped.

■ Reduction of fine dust emission in 324 large commercial facilities … Closure of 9 ~ 16 coal-fired power plants

Large companies and public works sites are also involved in reducing the emission of fine dust.

13 commercial sites were added to the 111 large commercial sites that participated in the first seasonal management system, and a total of 324 commercial sites will begin to reduce fine dust emissions as of day 1 of next month.

In order to prevent illegal emissions in the workplace, 80 drones and 32 mobile measurement vehicles have been subjected to intense crackdowns.

Coal power plants are also closed.

From next month through February next year, 9-16 coal power plants will be closed, and the remaining coal power generators will be limited (80% production) as much as possible within the remaining reserve.

During this seasonal management period, the number of shutdowns of coal-fired power plants has increased from 8 to 15 units in the same period last year.

■ Promotion of fine dust measures by the Ministry of Environment of China and Korea Strengthening exchanges at the local government level

The Ministry of Environment of Korea and China has decided to strongly promote Korea’s seasonal management system (December to March) and China’s autumn and winter measures (October to March), which are implemented during the period of high concentration of fine powder.

At the same time, we have decided to promote fine dust policy exchange and cooperation projects at the level of local governments such as Seoul-Beijing and Chungnam-Jiangsu province.
