As the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) spreads across the country, the number of areas exceeding the 1.5-step increase in social distancing has increased. Currently, only two regions of Gyeongbuk and Jeju show a stable situation.
According to the General Headquarters for Security and Disaster Countermeasures on the 29th, the daily average number of confirmed cases in the last week (November 23-29) was 416 (excluding foreign flows). By 7 districts, the metropolitan area (285.7 people), the Chungcheong area (32 people), the Honam area (32.6 people), the Gyeongbuk area (6.6 people), the Gyeongnam area ( 38 people), the Gangwon area (19.4 people), and the Jeju area (1.7 people), respectively. The government divides the country into 7 regions and is implementing a strategy to respond to Corona 19.
Chungcheong, Gangwon-do exceeded the 1.5-step standard
The key criterion for increasing the distance by 1.5 steps is the daily average for one week. In the case of the metropolitan area, there are 100 people, and in Chungcheong, Honam, Gyeongbuk and Gyeongnam, there are 30 people. Gangwon and Jeju are 10 each. Excluding Gyeongbuk and Jeju, the remaining five areas have already passed the 1.5-step upgrade standard.
In the case of the densely populated metropolitan area, the second distance stage is being applied preventively from the 24th, and only the Honam and Gyeongnam areas have adjusted to stage 1.5. For this reason, in the case of the Chungcheong and Gangwon areas, there is a high possibility that the distance-distance step increases simultaneously. Gyeongbuk and Jeju can also act to block breakouts in advance. However, the government plans to reduce the distancing stage if the size of the outbreak is small according to the quarantine situation by city and county.
Severe patient bed, although not relaxed
In recent weeks, an average of more than 400 patients a day are shedding, but fortunately, beds for critically ill patients are said to be secured at a level that it can bear at the moment. According to the script, there are currently 64 treatment beds dedicated to seriously ill patients across the country (at 28 days). The total number of critically ill beds (23) in general hospitals rises to 87. At 0 o’clock on the 29th, 78 seriously ill patients use the critically ill bed.
The proportion of seriously ill patients of all confirmed cases is estimated to be around 3%. The average stay in the intensive care unit is about 25 days. Assuming that 400 new corona patients continue, 19 the critically ill bed will be filled after one week with simple calculations. However, the incidence rate of high-risk patients aged 60 and over, which is very likely to get seriously worse, is said to be lower than that of the second epidemic in August and September. Considering the patient who is transferred from a critically ill bed to a normal bed due to a better condition, it is not comfortable, but it is said to be the size of a bed that can support it.
A government official said: “Of course, if the absolute number of confirmed patients increases significantly, beds for the treatment of seriously ill patients may become insufficient, but the current medical system has secured (beds) at a level that it can support.” .
