The government expects the second-stage effect of the distancing from the metropolitan area to appear starting next week, leading to a reversal in the current rapid increase.

I am planning to make a decision based on the trend this weekend, whether to increase the distance nationally.

From tonight until Sunday, we have to spend the weekend.

Reporter Shin Jeong-yeon reports.

In the middle of the second week of November, a month ago, the number of confirmed cases reached 100.

Then after the weekend, in the middle of last week, it went up to 300 people.

And after happening again last weekend, this time it blew up 500 people.

If you look at the confirmation trend of the last two weeks, the number of confirmed cases inevitably skyrockets after weekends with lots of outings and meetings.

“After spending the last two weeks on the weekend, the number of confirmed cases shows a pattern that increases even more.”

Based on this trend, the number of new confirmed cases is expected to reach 1,000 a day after passing this weekend.

It is somewhat promising that mobile phone traffic in the metropolitan area decreased 7.4% over the previous week in the last week, when the distance between the metropolitan area was updated to 1.5 steps.

However, quarantine authorities have determined that the amount of movement occurred somewhat and that it cannot prevent the current spread.

In particular, it is believed that it will be difficult to catch the third pandemic if the spread trend cannot be mitigated from the beginning of next week when the distancing effect takes effect.

Consequently, I canceled all meetings this weekend and called to stay home whenever possible.

“For now, cancel all meetings and appointments and stay home. Especially, meetings where you eat with relatives and acquaintances are very risky …”

The success or failure of the quarantine is expected to differ depending on how many people distance themselves and abstain from meetings on weekends.
