The number of confirmed cases is increasing in Jeju, where tourists are increasing due to the reproliferation of a new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the metropolitan area.

Jeju Island announced on the 25th that there were a total of 11 confirmed cases of corona19 this month.

Of these 11 confirmed cases, 5 were residents of Jeju and 6 were residents outside the province.

Jeju No. 60’s confirmed case occurred on the 3rd, about 40 days after the confirmed case (an American visitor) occurred in the province on September 23.

Then from 11-12, two visitors to Jeju (No. 61, 62) from the metropolitan area were in contact with a person confirmed in the metropolitan area, and they were examined and confirmed in the metropolitan area.

Also, Jeju confirmed cases No. 64, 67 and 68 are visitors from Jeju, which are the contacts of confirmed patients in Seoul.

Among Jeju residents, the number 63 confirmed in Jeju was a contact with a confirmed case in Chungnam, but the province estimated that the confirmed case in Chungnam was infected in the metropolitan area.

Also, two people who live in Jeju, including number 65 and 69, were confirmed after visiting the metropolitan area.

Only the last 70 confirmed patients are Jeju residents who were classified as contacts of the 69th confirmed.

The province is conducting an epidemiological investigation on the 70th confirmed patient and is investigating whether the area has secondary infection or not.

In particular, as the number of tourists visiting Jeju gradually increases, so does the voice to strengthen the quarantine.

According to the Jeju Island Tourism Association, the number of domestic tourists in Jeju as of the 22nd of this month was 888,138.

This is 0.9% more than 880,426 in the same period last year.
