Former Vice President Joe Biden, who declared victory in the US presidential election, announced the key people to lead security and foreign policy. Included was Aide, the first Latina minister for national security and the first candidate for intelligence chief. Reporter Lee Yeon-cheol reports.

On the 23rd, former Vice President Joe Biden nominated Tony Blinken, the former Under Secretary of State, as the next Secretary of State.

Former Vice President Biden made this announcement on the Presidential Transition Committee website.

Blinken served as the White House Deputy Homeland Security Assistant and Assistant Secretary of State for the former Barack Obama administration.

Former Vice President Biden also appointed Jake Sullivan, a former vice presidential security adviser to the White House National Security Advisor.

The nominee Sullivan served as Vice President Biden’s security advisor from 2013 to 2014.

Former Undersecretary of State Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a diplomat with 35 years of experience, was appointed UN ambassador.

In addition, Alejandro Mayokas, former vice minister of National Security, was the first Latino immigrant to be appointed Minister of National Security, and Avril Haynes, former deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), was the first woman to be appointed director of the National Intelligence Agency (DNI).

Additionally, former Secretary of State John Kerry has been nominated for the presidential special envoy on climate change.
