A study has shown that the immunity of a person who is cured of Corona 19 can be maintained for more than eight months to several years, even if the antibody disappears, according to the US media.

Local media say the findings allay concerns that even if a vaccine is developed, it may need to be administered multiple times repeatedly.

When a research team of Professor Shane Croty from the La Jolla Institute of Immunology (LJI) followed and investigated 185 people who were cured after suffering from Corona 19, an unexpected fact was discovered.

The vast majority of patients were found to have immune cells after 8 months of infection.

The researchers found that the amount of corona19 antibodies decreased at a moderate rate 6 to 8 months after infection.

However, 8 months after infection, only a small number of T cells in the patient’s body decreased and the B cells increased.

These two cells are immune cells that work together to make antibodies and fight viruses.

“With this level of immune cells, it is enough to prevent most people from being hospitalized or seriously ill for years,” says Professor Croti.

The New York Times said it was the result of a study that dispels concerns that a vaccine will need to be given repeatedly, even if a vaccine is developed to prevent the pandemic.

However, the research team revealed that it is difficult to predict exactly how long immunity lasts, because it is not known what type of immune cells and how much are needed to prevent COVID-19 infection.

However, studies so far show that a small amount of antibodies or T cells and B cells can prevent reinfection of the virus, the team explained.

Long-lived immune cells were not found in some of the test subjects, which was analyzed as a result of different amounts of corona virus 19 exposed to each individual.

The researchers predicted that given the vaccine, this individual variability could be reduced.
