In Korea, more than 40 cases have been reported to health authorities, alleging that an adverse reaction was suspected after vaccination against the new coronavirus (Corona 19).
The Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bang Dae-bon) announced that 48 new cases were reported as adverse reactions after vaccination at 0 o’clock on the 28th.
Of these, a suspected case of “anaphylaxis”, a severe systemic allergic reaction, and a suspected case of severe nervous system abnormalities such as seizures were added.
Both recently reported anaphylaxis and two seriously suspected cases were vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
There were no further reports of death. The number of deaths reported to date is a total of 21. Previously, the COVID-19 vaccination and response promotion team tentatively concluded that 15 of the 16 patients whose cause of death was analyzed were not related to vaccination, and the causality of the vaccine has not yet been confirmed.
The remaining 46 were relatively mild symptoms such as muscle pain, headache, fever, and nausea.
As a result, since vaccination began on the 26th of last month, there have been a cumulative number of reports of suspected adverse reactions. At 0 o’clock on this day, the 1st and 2nd cumulative inoculation in Korea is 1.29% of 799,000 people.
Among them, AstraZeneca vaccine-related cases accounted for 97.2% of all reports with 10.20 cases. There are 289 cases (2.8%) related to the Pfizer vaccine.
This appears to be due to the number of vaccines against AstraZeneca (73,562 people) far more than those for the Pfizer vaccination (65,528 people).
The adverse reaction reporting rate compared to inoculated is 1.37% for the AstraZeneca vaccine and 0.44% for the Pfizer vaccine.

In the case of adverse reactions reported so far, there were 101 suspected cases of anaphylaxis (89 cases of AstraZeneca, 12 cases of Pfizer), of which 95 cases were anaphylactic reactions and 6 cases were anaphylactic shock.
Suspected cases of anaphylaxis are largely divided into anaphylaxis, anaphylactic shock, and anaphylactic reactions. Anaphylaxis-like reaction is a case where symptoms like shortness of breath and hives appear within 2 hours after vaccination. The symptoms are similar to anaphylaxis, but can be improved with symptomatic therapy, so it is not a problem, the experts explained.
There are 10 cases of suspected serious adverse reactions. Seven cases of nervous system reactions such as seizures and three intensive care unit hospitalizations are all cases related to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Additionally, 11,177 cases, accounting for 98.7% of all adverse reaction reports, were mild cases such as muscle pain, headache, fever, and nausea, which are common after vaccination.
The quarantine authorities hold every Friday a meeting of the ‘Vaccination Injury Investigation Group’ made up of doctors and forensic experts to analyze the causal relationship between reports of serious adverse reactions such as death and vaccination.
