According to the ‘Employment Trend for November’ published by the National Statistics Office on the 16th, the number of people employed last month was 27,241 thousand, a decrease of 273,000 compared to the previous year.

The number of employees is March (-195,000), April (-476,000), May (-392,000), June (-352,000), July (-27 million) 1,000 people), August (-274,000 people), September (-392,000 people) and October (-421,000 people), followed by the decline for the ninth consecutive month.

It is the longest period since the decline for 16 consecutive months from January 1998 to April 1999, just after the financial crisis of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

By age, the number of employees aged 60 and over increased by 372,000, but in their 20s (-209,000), in their 30s (-194,000), in their 40s (-135,000) and in their 50s (-74,000 people) all decreased.

By industry, wholesale and retail businesses (-166,000 people), lodging and restaurants (-161,000 people) and manufacturing (-113,000 people) decreased.

On the other hand, it increased in public administration, national defense and the administration of social security (152,000 people), health and social welfare services (114,000 people) and the construction industry (77,000 people).

By job, the number of salaried workers decreased by 169,000 and the number of non-salaried workers decreased by 105,000.

Among salaried workers, the number of permanent workers increased by 38,000, but temporary workers (-162,000) and day laborers (-44,000) decreased.

The employment rate over 15 years was 60.7%, 1.0 percentage point less than a year ago. As of November, it is the lowest since November 2013 (60.7%).

The employment rate for people aged 15 to 64, compared to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), was 66.3%, 1.1 percentage points less than a year ago.

The number of unemployed was 967,000, an increase of 101,000 over the previous year.

The unemployment rate was 3.4%, 0.3 percentage points more than a year ago. As of November, it is the highest since November 2004 (3.5%).

The number of economically active inactive population was 16,675,000, an increase of 431,000 over the same month last year.

In particular, among the inactive population, 2353 thousand people were classified as “rested”.

The ‘resit’ population is in its 20s (88,000 ↑), 30 years (39,000 ↑), 40 years (33,000 ↑), 60 years or more excluding 50 years (17,000 ↓) (68,000 ↑), all increased.
