[정치]Replacing North Korea’s top nuclear weapons representative in the United States, will denuclearization negotiations survive?

The head of the Korean Peninsula Peace Negotiations Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the main representative of North Korea’s nuclear negotiations, was replaced before the US government took office from Biden.

The US Special Representative to North Korea is also expected to be appointed by the next administration, so we are interested in whether the personnel change will revive the vitality of the denuclearization negotiations.

The Blue House Secretary for Peace Planning, Noh Gyu-deok, has been appointed head of the Korean Peninsula peace negotiations headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in charge of North Korea’s nuclear diplomacy.

New Head of Headquarters Roh said he feels a great sense of responsibility in assuming a critical role in a fluid situation.

After the inauguration of the government, Shinim Roh, who has served as Secretary of Security Strategy in the Blue House and Secretary of Peace Planning, has been evaluated for having a deep knowledge of the peace process in the peninsula of Korea.

Former general manager Do-Hoon Lee set the record for the longest tenure of three years and three months, then resigned.

US Special Representative Vegan, who has been with North Korea’s nuclear talks for two years as a partner of Director Lee, is also expected to change after the establishment of the Biden administration early next year.

When President Vegan visited Korea earlier this month, the two expressed their confidence and regret over missing the opportunity to solve North Korea’s nuclear issue.

New Headquarters Roh is faced with the task of explaining the results of the existing US-North Korean negotiations to the Biden government and leading to an early resumption of the US-North Korean talks.

It is also important to keep up with the new North Korean representative who will be nominated by Biden by the next US administration.

With the collapse of the Hanoi and Crown 19 talks, denuclearization negotiations are at a long-term stalemate, and it is noteworthy whether the new staff can inspire vitality.
