Since vaccines are considered a strategic material, it is important to secure virus-related technologies and human resources in Korea, but conversely, the outflow of human resources in the biological field has been found to be severe.
Regarding the distribution of jobs of Koreans who have been employed in the United States as assured by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the number of employees in the fields of biology, agriculture and environmental life has more than doubled by seven years, from 4,092 in 2010 to 9,493 in 2017.
In particular, the number of workers in their 30s who were relatively skilled and active in active activities increased from 1,732 in the United States in 2010 to 7,396 in 2017.
The trend of skilled labor employment in the United States is also evident in the fields of science and engineering.
The proportion of Koreans aged 20 and under who were employed in the field of science and engineering in the United States decreased from 35.1% in 2010 to 13% in 2017.
The percentage of employed people in their thirties rose steadily from 38.2% to 53.7%, and the percentage of people in their 40s also increased.
