The second global pandemic is at a serious level, with 3 million confirmed cases worldwide and 40,000 deaths in the last week alone.

Countries around the world are in fierce competition in the development of vaccines and treatments to end COVID-19 as soon as possible.

In the US and UK, phase 3 clinical trials are coming to an end and Russia has skipped phase 3 and approved for home use.

Many companies in Korea are also pushing the development of vaccines and treatments, and the government is giving its full support with the determination that it will surely succeed in vaccine development this time around, even if it is a little later than in other countries.

Also, in case a vaccine is developed for the first time in a foreign country, we are also trying to secure imported vaccines to quickly supply the vaccine to the public.

Today, I came to Andong here to visit the corona19 vaccine production and development facility, take a direct look at the site and hear the voices from the site.

It’s already been 8 months since I came to Daegu and Gyeongbuk and held the first major script meeting while examining the situation of the crown.

At that time, it was very dangerous, with up to 900 confirmed cases per day, but through solidarity and national cooperation, we were able to safely overcome the crisis.

Our valuable experience in Daegu and Gyeongbuk continues to be a great asset in our fight against COVID-19.

This week, there are more days when confirmed cases of corona 19 exceed triple digits. In addition to hospitals and nursing homes, new group infections are occurring in daily life, such as family and acquaintances gatherings, school, work and golf meetings.

If this pattern continues, we don’t know when it will trigger a massive spread again. We must hold the reins of quarantine tighter and not relax.

Halloween day is approaching a day earlier. Fortunately, Seoul’s top clubs are said to have decided to shut down by quarantine.

However, due to the nature of Halloween events where you can dress up in various outfits and enjoy yourself, it is not safe.

If the infection spreads in a crowded situation, there is ample scope for large-scale spread.

Young people are advised to refrain from Halloween gatherings and events as much as possible, and to stay safe by following personal hygiene rules, such as wearing masks.

Relevant ministries and local governments, such as the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, must focus all their capabilities on quarantine so that Halloween Day does not become a source of large-scale spread.

Thank you.
