[사회]”When will the truth be investigated …” Victims of the social disaster on the streets of midwinter

The extension of the activities of the social disaster investigation committee is being debated later in the National Assembly, but more importantly, it is a proper investigation.

Sewol ferry families, survivors and victims of disinfectant humidifiers returned to the cold streets saying the truth should not stop.

The families from the Sewol ferry sat with mats on the ground calling for the approval of the amendment to the Special Law on Social Disasters.

Nongseong, which started on the 3rd, will continue day and night until the special law passes the plenary session of the National Assembly.

The ruling party has promised to address the bill before the end of the regular National Assembly, but approval is still unknown.

What grieving families want is not only to expand their activities, but also to have the right to investigate.

Currently, the committee cannot easily access data from power agencies such as the Blue House and the National Intelligence Service because it only has the authority to investigate.

Sewol ferry survivor Kim Seong-mook resumed his hunger strike after 48 days.

President Moon Jae-in said he had to go in person and urged the establishment of a special investigative committee directly reporting to the president.

[김성묵 / 세월호 생존자 : (해결할 사람은) 여전히 대통령밖에 없다고 생각합니다. 모든 기관의 행정 수반인 대통령이 직접 수사를 지시하고, 그 수사가 성역 없이 진행될 수 있도록….]

Victims of the humidifying disinfectant incident also raised their voices saying that the truth must not stop.

On the one hand, there were also voices that criticized the investigation committee, but in the end they agreed that an agency was needed for the victims.

So far, no government official has been punished for the humidifying disinfectant case and, in the case of the Sewol ferry disaster, only a lower-level police officer.

It is a colder winter for the victims of social disaster.
