[사회]The old dormitory life treatment center started operation … preparing hospital beds for universities

A life treatment center was established in the dormitory of Korea University and started operating since yesterday.

After receiving a request to provide a bed, private universities also prepared to receive patients in dormitories one by one.

Reporter Jung Hyun-woo’s report.

Dormitory for foreigners located on the Anam campus of Korea University.

Over the next month, 150 rooms in the building will serve as hospital beds at the Life Therapy Center.

This is the first university residence in the metropolitan area.

Previously, the city of Seoul sent cooperation requests to 8 private universities, including the University of Korea, to provide dormitories as life treatment centers.

Yonsei University also accepted this and began construction of the dormitory building.

Kyunghee University also decided to launch a dormitory, but the city of Seoul was considering whether it could be used as a bed.

First, the University of Seoul, which decided the policy of operating the life treatment center, had 270 students in the dormitory move to nearby hotels and other accommodations, and construction began.

Seoul National University is consulting with the City Council on a plan to provide a faculty building instead of dormitories.

[서울대학교 관계자 : 학생들을 옮기진 않아도 되고, 그 대신 단점은 보상의 문제라든지 또 주변 시설이 많거든요.]

Seoul City explained that it plans to install four dormitory living treatment facilities this year and operate them during winter break when students are unable to enter.
