After the Tesla Model X electric car collided with the wall of an apartment parking lot, and immediately after the accident, the surrogate driver, Choi Mo, escaped, but the driver in the passenger seat was killed.

Choi stated that the car suddenly crashed into a wall because the car was out of control.

After four months of investigating the cause of the accident, the police concluded that the substitute driver was inexperienced.

The brake system was revealed to have no mechanical defects.

The main reason was telematics, that is, driving information that was transmitted remotely to Tesla via a mobile communication service for vehicles.

When Tesla received this data and analyzed it, it was found that the speed increased 10 seconds before the collision, and the accelerator pedal reached its maximum value 4 seconds before reaching 95 km / h.

The police explained that when I ran the traffic accident replay program, it looked like it was captured on CCTV video.

It means I was stepping on the gas pedal.

However, experts argued that it is difficult to trust the accident recorder stored in the car 100% as the EDR could not be verified.

It is a key device that records speed, engine speed, brake operation, etc., but it was damaged in an accident and could not be restored.

Therefore, it is difficult to assume that there were no defects in the vehicle based on the data sent by Tesla.

Controversy persists over the car door that was not opened when the power was cut off at the time of the accident.

Police concluded that the dents were so severe that they couldn’t have escaped even if they were on, but experts saw this as a problem with Tesla’s recessed handle structure.
