The number of confirmed corona 19 cases in Korea fell below 500 in four days. However, this is largely due to the decrease in the volume of inspections over the weekend. Now even the lack of beds for critically ill patients is becoming a reality and concerns are mounting. Reporter Kim Pyeong-jung reports. New confirmed corona 19 cases in Korea have continued to triple digits for more than 20 days. The number of confirmed cases topped 200 and 300, eventually reaching 500, but dropped to 400 after four days. Because it is a weekend, the number of inspections has decreased by approximately 7,000 compared to weekdays, so we have to see if the expansion trend is decreasing. The problem is that the infection is spreading rapidly, registering an average of 400 confirmed cases per day in the last week. In particular, I am concerned that the pattern continues to appear simultaneously in daily life, such as table tennis courts, saunas, and dance academies. There is also the possibility that the social distancing effect is difficult to manifest because the asymptomatic infection continues, mainly among young people. As the number of confirmed cases increases every day, the shortage of beds for critically ill patients is also taking hold. Of the 548 seriously ill patients nationwide, only 15.7% of the 548 critically diagnosed beds can be admitted immediately. Notably, there are no beds in Gyeongbuk, Jeonbuk, and Jeonnam for seriously diagnosed patients, with only 41 left in the metropolitan area with many confirmed cases. Failure to break the proliferation trend this week could lead to serious disruptions to bed operations.
