The victims and their grieving family members, who were wrongly rounded up as suspects in the Lee Chun-jae serial murder case, asked the Truth Reconciliation Committee for Past Investigation to reveal the truth of the investigation at that time.

He said he hopes not only for themselves, but also for many victims who have suffered from coercion.

A serial murder case that terrorized the Hwaseong area for 6 years, from 1986 to 1991.

At the time, the police invested more than 1.8 million lovers and investigated more than 3,000 suspects and 20,000 targets, but could not find a lead to the case.

It was only in 2019, 30 years later, that Lee Chun-jae, who was incarcerated for another crime, was revealed to be the real criminal.

Only then did the police admit and apologize that they had led a loved one as a suspect to commit an unfair prison sentence, and that the investigator had found and concealed some of the victim’s belongings and bodies.
