Samsung Electronics Vice President Lee Jae-yong, who was charged with bribery in the Gukjeong Nongdan case, appeared again at the destruction and repatriation trial after 10 months.

At trial, the special prosecutors fiercely opposed the appointment of a professional hearing committee to assess the activities of Samsung’s Compliance Committee and the duration of its activities, and again clashed with the court.

Samsung Electronics Vice President Lee Jae-yong, who was injured by his father, appeared in court.

After 10 months, he returned to trial for the reversal of the Gukjeong Nongdan case, which was suspended due to the request of the special prosecutor to evade the court.

He did not answer any questions from reporters asking his heart.

At the trial, three professional judges were appointed to evaluate the activities of the compliance system that will be reflected in Lee’s ruling.

Former constitutional judge Kang Il-won, who was appointed as part of the court, Kim Kyung-soo, former prosecutor for the prosecutor, recommended by Vice President Lee, and Hong Soon-tak, executive member of the Participatory Solidarity Economic and Financial Center, recommended by the special counsel.

The special counsel said that attorney Kim recommended by the attorney was not neutral in defending the accounting firm that calculated Samsung C & T’s illegal merger ratio.

The lawyers objected to each other and engaged in a nervous war on the grounds that accountant Hong, recommended by the special counsel, had a negative opinion of Lee, such as participating in a complaint against the Samsung C&T merger.

In particular, the special prosecutors argued in court that the compliance committee’s inspection period was extremely short and, in this process, the prosecutor sent by the special prosecutors strongly opposed, for example, leaving the court.

However, the court did not accept the argument of the special counsel, saying that the appointment of a member of the audience is a matter that must be decided ex officio by the court, and that the compliance monitoring system is not the only condition for dictate sentence.

The Judiciary is in a position to go through the declaratory investigation once on the 23rd and hear the evaluations of the professional judges on the 30th as scheduled.

Former Judge Kang Il-won, who was appointed by the Ministry of Justice as a professional judge, also said that he would attend the court in person and discuss with other judges to conduct on-site inspections and interviews with related parties.

However, prosecutors and special attorneys are wrestling with the issue of Samsung’s internal data release for the hearing committee members’ evaluation, and battles over the compliance system are expected to continue until the trial ends.
