Vice President Lee previously tried to attend the trial preparation day that took place on the 26th of last month, but his father, President Lee Kun-hee, passed away and he was not present.

Meanwhile, Vice President Lee has been tried on charges of bribery of former President Park Geun-hye and non-President Choi Seo-won to assume management power after the fall of President Lee Kun-hee.

In the first trial, prison sentences were handed down, but in the second trial they were released on probation. Last year, the Supreme Court returned the case to the Seoul High Court saying the amount of bribery was small.

Later, in October last year, when the revocation and repatriation court announced that it would consider Samsung’s compliance monitoring system for sentencing, special prosecutors objected that it was biased and filed a request to evade the court in February of this year. .

However, in September, the Supreme Court rejected the challenge and the trial resumed on the 26th of last month, nine months after the suspension.

First, it is expected that the composition of professional judges will be completed to evaluate the activities of the Samsung Compliance Committee.

Previously, the court appointed former constitutional judge Kang Il-won as part of the court, and Vice President Lee and the special prosecutors also recommended each of the hearing committee members.

The Professional Review Committee plans to evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of the Samsung Compliance Committee from the 16th to the 20th.

The court plans to hold a sixth trial on the 30th, hear the opinions of expert judges and hold a trial by decision in the middle of next month.

If it proceeds as is, the revocation and conciliation is expected to conclude early next year.

However, if the results of the Professional Hearings Committee’s evaluation are favorable to Vice President Lee, the special counsel’s opposition may be rebellious, which can lead to pain at the end of the trial.
