The first trial took place in the ‘Eulwang-ri Drunk Accident’, in which a drunk female driver killed a head in her 50s delivering chicken.

The driver admitted the charges, but the passenger was drunk at the time of the accident and had no recollection, and denied the allegations of aiding drunk driving.

A 33-year-old colleague and a 47-year-old B who killed a 50-year-old chicken handing boss while driving drunk along Eulwangri Beach in Incheon.

At the first trial, Driver A acknowledged all the prosecution charges.

Mr. B, who was accused of encouraging drunk driving at the time, also bowed his head saying he was sorry in front of reporters.

The trial denied all the charges.

He explained that he was drunk at the time, so he couldn’t tell how drunk Mr. A was and his memories were blurry.

In addition, he insisted that he was only a companion, but that a strict legal review by the court was necessary to be accused of being an accessory in a drunk driving accident.

An attorney for the surviving family of the victim criticized Mr. B, who knows enough that Mr. A, who drank with him, was drunk, for failing to make efforts to prevent the accident.

Bereaved family members thought they should raise awareness of drunk driving through severe punishment, and perpetrators repeatedly visited victims and raised their voices saying they were only asking for an agreement.

The prosecution believes there is a charge of teaching drunk driving, saying that Mr. B opened the door of the Mercedes vehicle and made him drive to a nearby store.

In addition, as a passenger, the so-called Yoon Chang-ho law was applied, as a consequence of the high risk of fatal accidents as a companion.

This is the first time the prosecution has prosecuted a passenger in a drunk driving vehicle under the Yoon Chang-ho law.
