At the Namyangju factory, where the group infection occurred, dozens of foreign workers who tested negative were housed in the same dormitory.

Factory officials told YTN reporters that dozens of people in quarantine lived together and shared a bathroom.

Foreign workers in masks are lined up in the factory dormitory building.

Workers at the Namyangju plastic factory, where more than a hundred people were infected, were quarantined in the bedroom for 2-3 days, even after being confirmed.

“(Teacher, how many people are you evacuating today?) About 16 people today.”

There were also testimonies that the environment inside the factory dormitories where they were isolated was vulnerable to quarantine.

In a phone call with YTN, the first confirmed person at the factory testified that about 20 people had shared both the bathroom and the dining room in a closed space without windows.

Concerns about more group infections are also increasing, as they say that 20 workers who were negatively assessed or retested also shared a shower and toilet.

In particular, it is known that most of the factory workers here are illegal immigrants with no private residence, and the administration was in danger.

Justice Minister Park Beom-gye visited the site and said that quarantine is the top priority over the crackdown on foreign workers, and asked that the Korean government not hide as much as possible to test Corona 19 regardless of the visa status.

Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun also criticized the relevant ministries for failing to take precautionary measures against the workplace where foreign workers gathered.

The Ministry of Employment and Labor has decided to carry out special inspections for more than 15 days in 1,000 places, including foreign workplaces throughout the country.

As the cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the Namyangju plant exceeds 130, infection cases have also occurred in Gangwon and Jeollanam-do beyond the metropolitan area.
