Yesterday’s court held a further trial in the case of Jung In-yi, who died of wool abuse.

A psychological analyst came out as a witness, and there was a common analysis that Yang-mo was lying, saying that he had never assaulted Jeong In-i, and testified that he had a high tendency to be psychopath.

Let’s connect with reporters and hear detailed stories Reporter Kim Ji-hwan!

First of all, what witnesses were at the trial yesterday?

[기자]

Yes, the trial took place yesterday from 10 am to 2 pm and 4 pm all three times.

Each trial had one witness, three in all.

At the first trial, an acquaintance of Yang-mo’s mother-in-law, and the trial that followed in the afternoon, a resident of the lower house and a psychological analyst from the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office were present and testified.

Earlier, an acquaintance of Mr. Jang testified that Jeong In was neglected by his adoptive parents, and the psychological analyst conducted a lie detector test against Mr. Jang.

The results of Jang’s integrated psychological analysis also played a role in the role of the prosecution in changing the main charge of child abuse to murder.

[앵커]

So I was interested in the psychoanalyst’s testimony, but did you give a completely different testimony than Wool’s?

[기자]

Yes, the analyst said, “Have you ever thrown or stepped on Jeong-in?” Jang replied “No” and said the analysis was false.

In particular, he emphasized that the four inspectors they independently analyzed turned out to be false.

As a result of checking changes in respiration, blood pressure, and sweat secretion before and after Jang’s response with a lie detector, changes were observed when lying.

When it is said that he has never stepped on Jeongin’s stomach, it is said that Jang displayed false behavioral characteristics, such as closing his eyes or talking fast.

[앵커]

Psycho tendencies were also high, so please explain this part as well.

[기자]

The analyst also testified about the results of Jang’s psychological analysis test.

He said it was found to be an antisocial and very egocentric and aggressive personality disorder, or a psychopathic tendency.

He explained that the total score for the psychopath test was 22 points, which was close to 25 points, which is the standard for diagnosing psychopaths.

He added that despite showing guilt, he was not aware of what he had done wrong and that he was suffering from the loss of Jeong In-i, but he did not show any emotional stress.

When the prosecution requested a comprehensive conclusion, it stated: “It seems that there is a high possibility that the child has been stepped on or that he has committed abusive behavior by throwing him to the ground.”

[앵커]

In yesterday’s trial, the situation on the day Jung In-yi died and the circumstances that Wool had neglected during that time were relatively detailed, right?

[기자]

Yes, residents of the lower house testified that on the day Jeongin died, the loud sound and vibration produced by dropping heavy weights was repeated four or five times.

He also said that he went upstairs to protest at the time.

When asked “What’s wrong?”, Jang added that he cried and said “I’ll tell you later.”

An acquaintance said that many times Jang would not take Jeong-in or leave him in the car when he was out.

I ran into Jang outside the house about 15 times, and 5 of them said they hadn’t brought Jeong In-i.

[앵커]

After the trial, did Jung-in kneel in front of the reporters?

[기자]

Yes, Mr. Ahn Mo, who is disabled, walked out of the courtroom as if on the run after the trial ended yesterday.

I did not request personal protection from the court.

I ran for a long time avoiding questions from reporters, as if sorry for Jung In-i, how did I hear today’s testimony?

Suddenly I knelt before the reporter who was chasing me and burst into tears.

Let’s look at the situation at that time.

Flower wreaths were installed in front of the court in memory of Jeong In-i yesterday, and protests to punish the adoptive parents followed until the trial was over.

[앵커]

In the midst of this, did a child abuse incident occur in Incheon yesterday?

[기자]

Yes, the report came in around 9 o’clock the other day.

At a multi-family home in Unnam-dong, Yeongjong-do, Incheon, my father called 119 and said that A, aged 10, was not breathing.

Rescuers performed CPR on Ms A and rushed to a nearby hospital, but Ms A died.

The police officers who were sent together discovered the abusive situation, such as that Ms. A was very dry and had bruises all over her body, and the couple was arrested in an emergency.

As a result of the police investigation, the father was identified as Ms A’s stepfather, and it was discovered that Ms A’s mother had divorced her ex-husband and then remarried.

[앵커]

How is the investigation going?

[기자]

The stepfather admitted that since last November he had been punishing Miss A for disciplinary purposes.

It is said that they used plastic hangers when they were not listening.

However, on the day Ms. A died, she was never beaten and denies all charges of child abuse and death.

When asked why he died, he only replied ‘I don’t know’, and the credibility of the statement is low.

It simply repeats the claim that Ms. A’s mother never hit her.

The police plan to request an arrest warrant against Mrs. A in the middle of this afternoon, when the results of the first autopsy of the National Institute of Scientific Research are released.

In addition, along with the cause of Ms A’s death, we will continue an investigation with a specialized child protection agency to see if Ms A’s brother, who died, was also abused.
