A college student found a robbery suspect who had stolen his card and reported him to the police in charge.

But the response from the police is astonishing.

He said he couldn’t move because he was drinking alcohol and told him to follow the suspect himself.

Kim Jung-jae, a college student who lost his wallet with 300,000 won in cash on the slope of the Han River.

Five hours later, when a card payment text message arrived from a convenience store, I immediately reported it to the Gangnam Police Station.

After two days, there was no contact, so I called the detective on the homicide team in charge of the case.

Although CCTV was secured at the time of the crime, the detective’s response was overwhelming.

Unbearable, Mr. Kim went to the convenience store.

Kim, who had been walking around here alone for an hour, found the criminal on the other side of the bike as a drama.

It was so similar to the coat sent by the police before that I could recognize it immediately.

I immediately called the police in charge of finding the culprit, and the answer that came this time was absurd.

Finally, after reporting to 112, Kim, who had been chasing the criminal for only about 50 minutes, caught the criminal with police dispatched from the nearby police booth.

[김정재 / 대학교 1학년 : 수고했다 잘했다 말씀하시는데 저는 시민이고 피해자인데 되려 형사는 집에 있고 제가 잡았으니까 좀 어이가 없었죠.]

The police in charge admitted that YTN was difficult to reach by phone, but denied that they had never asked not to call 112.

[담당 경찰 : 제사를 지내다 보니까 집에서 가족들이랑 같이 술을 먹었거든요. 힘들더라도 좀 추적해보고 안 되면 그때 가서 112신고 정도 하라고 간단하게 얘기했는데. 억양이 어떻게 받아들이느냐에 따라 문제가 되는 거겠죠.]

The Gangnam Police Department, which launched an internal investigation into this case after the YTN coverage took place, will decide whether or not to discipline the police officer.
