An employee of a mobile phone store who committed a micro-payment scam after opening a mobile phone by stealing the name of an elderly person was caught by the police.

We did this to buy 10 million won worth of gaming items, but with the goal that seniors are unfamiliar with IT devices or complicated contracts.

Grandpa Ahn Byung-ho, 88, makes about 30,000 won a month by abolishing it.

I was surprised to check my account recently.

My eyes are dark and I don’t know how to handle a smartphone so I just use the call function.

Mr. A joined his grandfather with two mobile phone operators.

He gave his grandfather a cell phone and took the other one.

And I bought game items with my mobile phone.

There were 5 people who suffered similar damage.

Most of them were people aged 70 and over, and the damage amounted to 10 million won.

The mobile operator is not an agency that has a formal contract with them and is not responsible for it.

[이동통신업계 관계자 : 판매점이라는 데는 저희하고 어떤 계약관계도 없고 아무런 연관이 없어요. 그래서 저희가 어떻게 직접적으로 할 수 있는 부분은 없고, 대리점이 있을 거니까 거기에 대해서는 간접적으로 이야기할 수 있는 거죠.]

Ahn Byung-ho’s grandfather unfairly exploits 40 times his monthly income.

Seniors unfamiliar with IT devices or complicated contract documents should go to a guardian when activating their mobile phones, he advises consumer-related civic groups.
