This is a series of reports from YTN pointing to the problem of the unmanned parking system not being able to identify fake license plates.

Last year, the government introduced a new plate with a hologram that said it would block the fake plates, revealing a flaw in preventing piracy.

This is because the switch cameras in the parking lots only recognize the shape of the letters, but not the holograms.

Reporter Park Hee-jae reports.

An unregistered vehicle slowly passing through an unmanned circuit breaker and into the apartment parking lot.

The license plate is a fake paper made from a copy of the resident’s vehicle.

It is a crime that exploits the fact that a blocking camera identifies license plates only by recognizing letters and numbers.

With the current unmanned parking system, it is impossible to distinguish between counterfeit and counterfeit license plates.

So the reporters experimented to see if they also recognized the license plates drawn by hand on paper.

The result is sure.

It was recognized as a registered vehicle and the switch was activated immediately.

What about the new license plate the government introduced last year to stop fake license plates?

There is a hologram, but it is useless in an unmanned parking control system.

This is because the switch camera only recognizes the numbered area.

Is there a supplement?

In addition to the vehicle number, the experts suggested the vehicle type and color recognition as an alternative.

However, even in this case, if a vehicle of the same color and a false license plate is attached to the same type of vehicle, it cannot be filtered.

Fake license plate crime is happening all over the world.

In February last year, 50 vehicles were seized in Gangnam, Seoul, where a vehicle was ordered to stop with a counterfeit paper plate attached.

Before it becomes a felony, it appears that gaps in the unmanned parking control system need to be filled even in major national facilities such as government buildings.
