Lee Sang-jik and Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Sang-jik, the founder of Eastar Jet, divorced in the early 2000s, but around the time of the 4-15 general election, it was revealed that they campaigned for the elections with his ex-wife and accompanied important events such as a publishing ceremony. The Eastar Jet Pilots Union recently accused Lee of denouncing the omission of ownership, saying: “Representative Lee, the true owner of Eastar Jet, has divorced on the pretext of concealing his ownership and is actually continuing the marital relationship.” Eastar Jet, which is facing serious business difficulties, has reported the layoffs of 600 employees after paying more than 25 billion won in wages for 1,600 employees.
A union official said in a phone call on the 15th: “After the elections were confirmed on the day of the general election on April 15, it was reported that Lee raised his hand next to a woman in the elections office. He said: “In addition to this, there have been several incidents that could not be seen as divorced couples, such as complementary publications and free meals in local districts.” Representative Lee attended a release ceremony held in Jeonju in December last year, when he was serving as the president of Small and Medium Venture Business Corporation, and said, “The development of Jeonbuk should be with the people here, just as we raise a good family in raising our family together. ) “. The union insisted that Lee was at home with his ex-wife even when Banpo-dong, Seoul, visited a congressman’s home in July to demand a solution from the Eastar Jets.
The circumstances of the alleged divorce have also appeared in the court ruling. Lee’s biological brother, Lee Gyeong-il, who succeeded Lee in 2012 and became the president of Eastar Jet, was sentenced to three years in prison in 2015 for stealing money. At the time, Lee Kyung-il raised Lee’s ex-wife as a company executive and paid more than 400 million won. The court viewed this as a “bogus job” and noted that “most of the earnings appear to have been acquired by the defendant’s younger brother, Sang-Jik Lee.”
The union side said: “Even if you are divorced, if you accompany the election campaign and live in the same house, you must report the marriage again and reveal the details of your property. This legislator only disclosed the property of himself, his daughter and his son”. This case was passed from the Seoul South District Attorney to the Jeonju District Attorney.
The union believes that Lee’s daughter Lee Su-ji, CEO of Eastar Holdings, is also using the corporate name of an expensive vehicle (porsche) and Yeouido officetel privately. Rep. Lee has yet to clear up the suspected resource donations that arose during the establishment of Eastar Jets holding company, Eastar Holdings, in 2015. At the time, Eastar Holdings, a 26-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son, owned 100% of the shares and bought a 68% stake in Eastar Jet by borrowing about 10 billion won without any commercial results.
The union also recently revealed that Congressman Lee operated Eastar Jet as a kind of private organization for political activities. In 2012-2016, the company encouraged employees to pay donations to Lee and other members of the Democratic Party, and during the 2017 presidential election, an executive asked employees to participate in the electoral body during the Democratic presidential nomination process. .
When asked about the suspicion of divorce, Lee said, “It is not universal, but there are many people who are like friends,” he said. “I know that Lee’s children joined the election campaign asking their mother to help their father.”
