Recommended only for those under 65, such as Germany, France and Austria
Ireland, Finland, Poland and Belgium do not recommend vaccination for the elderly

In Europe, a growing number of countries are refusing to inoculate the elderly with the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by the multinational pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford in the UK. Even the Swiss government refused to approve its use at all. It is the first case that Korea has not approved the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Europe. Reporter Kang Seong-ok reports On the 29th of last month, the European Union approved the conditional sale of the COVID-19 vaccine jointly developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford to all adults over 18 years of age. However, the judgment of the member countries was different. Germany, France, Austria, and Sweden have recommended this vaccine only for people under 65 years of age. Ireland also says that it currently has no plans to administer AstraZeneca vaccines to people over the age of 65. The vaccine was only recommended for people under 70 in Finland, under 60 in Poland, and under 55 in Belgium. Italy recommended the first use for people under 55, but revised its opinion that people over 55 could receive the vaccine if they were healthy. Among European countries that are not EU member states, Norway has said that it will not receive the AstraZeneca vaccine to people over 65 years of age. Switzerland went one step further and denied approval of the AstraZeneca vaccine entirely. The European Medicines Agency, EMA, has not yet had enough data and results to show how well the AstraZeneca vaccine will work in people over 55, but it is expected to have a protective effect. International controversy and mistrust over the AstraZeneca vaccine, which the EU approved for use in the region for the third time, is generating anxiety about the vaccination itself.
