[국제]Japan, Belatedly Revised Travel Incentives … When is the quarantine countermeasure?

When the COVID-19 situation entered the 3rd pandemic and the outbreak worsened, the Japanese government decided to review some of its economic stimulus measures, such as policies to encourage travel and eating out.

However, it remains reluctant to take strong action such as declaring an emergency situation, so it seems difficult to achieve a significant effect with corrective measures alone.

‘Go To Travel’ is a project to support travel expenses introduced by the Japanese government to encourage domestic travel.

Discounts are offered on accommodation costs or coupons that can be used at travel destinations, but if there are many, up to 50% of the cost of the trip can be covered.

‘Go To Eat’ is also a support project promoted to encourage eating out, which allows you to buy food vouchers by region at a low price, and if you make a reservation at a registered restaurant, you will be given points to use the Next time.

However, the Japanese government decided to fix some of the two projects.

Travel reservations to destinations in areas where the infection had spread were stopped, and each metropolitan government also required a review of the policy to encourage eating out.

At first, the two projects were ambitiously promoted by the Japanese government to boost the economy.

Despite the number of confirmed cases in the third Corona 19 epidemic and the growing demand for policy revisions, the Japanese government has yelled that it can catch both the quarantine and the economy.

He also developed a compelling logic to silence criticism.

It seems that it was because they decided that they could no longer bear the Corona 19 situation in Japan.

On the 21st, about 2,500 new corona19 confirmed in Japan.

It’s setting the record for four days in a row, and this is the first time the number of new confirmed cases in Japan has exceeded 2,500 per day.

Local governments are in an emergency due to the explosive surge, but the Japanese government has not come up with strong quarantine measures, such as an emergency declaration.

Therefore, it is not clear whether this corrective measure will curb rapid growth.
