The government announced plans this morning to purchase up to 44 million doses of the Corona 19 vaccine. It will be introduced from February to March next year, but the timing of the vaccination has yet to be decided.

However, in the UK today, the world’s first vaccination for the general public began. The United States, which has a serious spread, will also be vaccinated soon, and we will connect each location to see the atmosphere.

First of all, are you with Woo Won-taek, who lives in London, England? The world’s first vaccine. Can Woo Won-taek, who is currently accepting the interview, be right?

[우원택]

In the UK, vaccination starts today. In my case, I am a healthy adult male in my 30s, so I’m not sure when my turn will come back.

[앵커]

Is this a priority vaccination objective according to age, sex and health status?

[우원택]

So is. According to the UK government announcement, people aged 80 and over or health workers who are classified as high-risk groups start getting vaccinated first.

[앵커]

There must be Korean-Americans around, but are there people going to get vaccinated?

[우원택]

I haven’t seen anyone around me who is yet to get vaccinated. Even in the UK, he doesn’t appear to be as well prepared as vaccines begin today.

[앵커]

What was the reaction of Koreans living in the UK?

[우원택]

There are still many people who have doubts about the safety of the vaccine, so there seem to be many negative opinions. In my case, the vaccine development was completed in a short period of time and there seems to be little research on side effects.

[앵커]

He said he was very concerned but that it was the first place in the UK that had been vaccinated against the general public. What steps do I need to take to get the vaccine?

[우원택]

As far as I know, there are not many personal ways to do it. I can’t pay for it, and I know that a British organization that deals with public health care because it is the government’s NHS first screened high-risk groups and then chose people.

[앵커]

Do you know how much it costs to get a single dose?

[우원택]

As I said, I understand that vaccination is free because the UK chooses public health care as the National Health Service because it is called the NHS.

[앵커]

I said it briefly before, but there are also concerns about vaccination. In fact, looking at the results of a British survey, about 1 in 3 British people would not receive the corona vaccine, and there was a survey result that answered this, but said it briefly before, but what is the real atmosphere at? your surroundings?

[우원택]

I have also seen a questionnaire of this type. If you talk to colleagues or acquaintances who work with you in the company, in the case of the UK, the coronavirus has been severely affected, and the Pfizer vaccine is also an American vaccine, and since vaccination begins without many clinical trials. There seems to be a lot of concern about that safety and practically a lot about vaccination.

[앵커]

It reads a bit to mean that there is a situation where there is a concern about the side effects of a vaccine. There was also a vaccine protest in London yesterday, and I heard that there are conspiracy theories surrounding the vaccine. What is the main content?

[우원택]

I think a lot of these conspiracy theories stem from security concerns. I find it a lot on social media, which is why there’s a lot of pointless content on social media, like population control, planting chips in the body, or manipulating DNA.

[앵커]

In a way, he seems to be saying that these unconfirmed conspiracy theories are coming to light. Is this public opinion aware? I am 94 years old. I am 94 this year, and Queen Elizabeth of England will also be vaccinated in sequence. What is the local response?

[우원택]

In the case of the Queen of England, since she is 94 years old, she is considered a high-risk group. Due to the symbolism given by the Queen of England, it will be a good opportunity to convince the public about the safety of the vaccine if it is vaccinated in advance.

[앵커]

And I know that the recent opposition to the second blockade by the British government has been quite severe, is there any analysis on the effect of the blockade?

[우원택]

So is. Before the second containment policy, the number of confirmed cases per day exceeded 30,000. Of course, even after the lockdown, the number is still much higher than that of the Republic of Korea, but yesterday the number of confirmed cases dropped to roughly half and 14,000 per day. So you can say it works.

[앵커]

So is the situation in the UK still not serious? I heard there were over 60,000 cumulative deaths, especially since it’s a season where a lot of people get together before the Christmas holidays, so quarantine rules are not being followed well and the spread is getting stronger. What is the local environment like?

[우원택]

As the coronavirus outbreak went on, of course, compared to the Republic of Korea, it is very rare, but the wearing of masks and maintaining quarantine rules seem to have been culturally established to some extent. However, as the situation dragged on, the state of alert also decreased greatly. The lockdown ended a while ago, and the holiday season has gotten people excited, so many people are worried it will spread again.

[앵커]

A photo of a crowd of people without masks at Herod’s department store in London used to be a hot topic, but what is the atmosphere like in relation to wearing a mask?

[우원택]

Compared to the past, I often see people who encourage wearing masks and speak to them first if they aren’t actually wearing them in stores or restaurants. Still, compared to Korea, it is completely buried in real life, or when I thoroughly observe the quarantine rules myself, I can solve the crown crisis together. Such cultural things seem to be a little less compared to Korea.

[앵커]

Good. So far Woo Won-taek, who lives in London, UK, and Woo Won-taek, we investigated London, England and the local atmosphere of England. Thanks for speaking today.

[우원택]

Thank you.
