A farm in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do, where a report of suspected AI in avian influenza due to the death of 1,000 chickens at once has been reported, was finally confirmed with highly pathogenic AI.

On the 28th of last month, a duck farm in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, became infected with highly pathogenic AI for the first time this year, and the number of confirmed cases is increasing rapidly.

The fourth farm in the outbreak came out two days after Sangju in Gyeongbuk on the 2nd and Yeongam in Jeonnam on the 5th.

The serotype is the same type as the H5N8 type that came out earlier, and quarantine authorities are epidemiologically investigating the exact route of entry.

As the AI penetrated the metropolitan area, the quarantine was truly a super emergency.

As a precautionary measure, shortly after the suspicion of AI was reported, authorities began burying 193,000 chickens raised on the outbreak farm and 7,000 ducks at a duck farm within a 3 km radius.

A temporary suspension order was also issued for the chicken and duck farms, livestock facilities and livestock vehicles in Gyeonggi-do.

The period of temporary suspension is 48 hours until 5 a.m. on the 9th.

Also, all chicken and duck farms in Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province are prohibited from moving for 7 days.

Quarantine authorities were alert to the spread of the virus inside the barn if any hole was made in the quarantine, and asked farmers across the country to implement quarantine regulations.
