Kentucky AG Breno has agreed to release the grand jury tapes in the Taylor case

Last week, a Louisville grand jury indicted one of the officers who fired at his home, endangering Taylor’s neighbors. No officer was charged in Taylor’s murder, who was shot five times after officers knocked on his door on March 13 to issue a warrant for the service of drugs.

Cameron said last week that two officers from Jonathan Mattingley and Miles Cosgrove justified their weapons in the firing because Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Wal Wal Kare, fired at them.

“Our lawyer presented all the evidence, though the evidence was upheld by Sergeant. Mattingly and Det. Cosgrove was justified in his use of force after being fired by Kenneth Waker, “Cameron said in a statement. “For that reason, only the need for a recommended charge is put at risk.”

On Monday, a grand jury, which was not identified, filed a court motion, asking the judge to release a record of the grand jury proceedings.

Cameron agreed with the release of the recordings, saying the grand jury was a “secret body.”

“It’s clear that the public interest in this case won’t let that happen,” Cameron said.
