Kamala Harris responds after Trump promotes racist birding conspiracy: ‘They will participate in lies’

Kamala Harris has reacted to a racist bribery conspiracy theory promoted by Donald Trump, who falsely claims she is not eligible to serve in the White House, and tells a leading black-oriented media outlet: ‘They will participate in leagen. They will engage in deception. ”

The California senator selected by Joe Biden to run in his presidential campaign spoke TheGrio on Saturday in a broad interview after the president claimed in a White House press release last week that he “had no idea” whether she met the requirements to become vice president, adding: “I heard today that they do not meet the requirements. “

Ms. Harris was born in Oakland, California and can serve as both vice president and president – despite racist claims published by Chapman University professor John Eastman in Newsweek that the president later addressed during his briefing with reporters. If elected, she would become the first black woman and person of Native American descent to serve in the White House. Conspiracy theories about their origins, similar to those used by Mr. Trump throughout his presidency against Barack Obama, are rooted in racism and have no basis in reality.

“They will participate in an effort to divert attention from the real problems affecting the American people,” Ms Harris said. ‘And I expect they will resort to dirty tactics. And this will be a knockdown, drag-out. And we are ready. ”

Mrs Harris has previously dismissed the baseless allegations when she ran for president in March last year, telling the popular radio show The Breakfast Club: “I was born in Oakland, and raised in the United States, except for the years I was in high school in Montreal, Canada. ”

“And look, this is the same thing they did to Barack (Obama),” the senator added with a laugh. “This is not new to us and so I think we know what they are trying to do.”

Interview with Ms Harris TheGrio was her second since the Biden campaign officially announced that she participated in the presumptive Democratic ticket last week. Her first sit-down interview as the presumptive vice president was nominated with The 19th, a new media outlet dedicated to women and politics.

Mr. Biden and Ms Harris were set to accept the Democratic Party’s nominations for the White House during this Democratic National Convention.

Speaking over the weekend, Ms Harris said she was ready to deal with the potential attack of contagious conspiracy throughout the campaign.

“I’m very clear about the fact that, as you said, they’ll be participating in what they’ve done in the whole administration, that is, let’s just be very frank and right: They’re going to participate in lies,” she said. “They will participate in deception.”

Ms Harris concluded: “Nothing we have ever achieved that has come about progress is without a fight.”
