A humiliating photo of Johnny Depp fast asleep with ice cream seeping onto his jeans was shown at his defamation trial Monday, with Depp admitting it was taken to show how “pathetic” he had become.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star was interrupted by former Amber Heard while dozing cross-legged on a sofa, his head tilted back with his mouth hanging open.
Depp, 57, was seen in the snap of 2014 holding a tub of ice cream that had dripped onto his leg, according to the photo shown in London’s High Court.
Depp blamed his comatose state for having been working for 17 hours a day, although he admitted that it was at a time when he had agreed to go to his private island in the Bahamas to detoxify from prescription drugs.
“I was obviously nodding and very tired, I fell asleep, and ice cream spilled all over my leg,” Depp said of the photo.
“Then he took that … and showed it to me the next day and said, ‘Look what you’ve become … look at you, it’s pathetic,'” the Hollywood star said during her fifth and final day giving evidence in the case.
When asked if her ex showed her other “wound” photos that she claims to have suffered in her alleged attacks, Depp insisted, “No, sir,” saying that she never saw any before the court case began.
The photo was used as evidence in Depp’s case when he sues The Sun newspaper over an April 2018 article saying he was a “handcuff puncher,” which he has repeatedly denied.
Depp is accused of attacking Heard, 34, throughout their stormy relationship, which he described as “a crime scene waiting for it to happen” and allegedly made her fear for her life, she claims she says is “a hoax. choreographed. “
Depp is also desperately suing Heard for $ 50 million in the United States for allegedly defaming him in a Washington Post article on domestic abuse. That case will be heard next year.
