After months of leaks and previews, the OnePlus Nord launch event is finally here. The Nord will perform on July 21 at 10 am ET (7 am PT, 3 pm BST, 7:30 pm IST), and OnePlus is doing things a little differently this time for launch.
In addition to a regular live stream in collaboration with Unbox Therapy to be streamed on the OnePlus Nord microsite and YouTube, OnePlus will host the AR (Augmented Reality) launch event, a first for the industry. Here’s how you can stream the Nord launch event in AR and what you need to do to do it.
How to watch the OnePlus Nord launch event in AR
Before you can stream the Nord launch event, you’ll need a few things:
First, make sure your phone supports ARCore. If not, you will not be able to view the event on your device. All OnePlus phones starting with OnePlus 3T have the feature built-in, and if you’re using a third-party phone, here is the full list of phones with ARCore.

Do you have a device with ARCore? You will now need to download the OnePlus Nord AR app from the Play Store or App Store. OnePlus says OnePlus 5T, 8, and 8 Pro users may see issues with the app, and if that’s the case for you, you’ll have to tune in to the live stream on YouTube.
Once the app is installed, you can configure your avatar (if you want), and the only thing left to do is scan the QR code of the Nord invitation to stream the event in augmented reality. I recommend using Google Lens to scan the QR code, so if you don’t already have it on your device, download it from the Play Store.

Some tips to make sure the AR live stream runs smoothly – make sure your phone has the right battery before the event starts. If you are scanning the QR code from another device, make sure it is flat on a surface. The overlay feature is based on the cutout frame shown above to show the Nord virtually.
It is better to use a pair of headphones, but they are not necessary. Given the interest in the north, there will likely be an influx of users right before the launch event begins, so tune in a few minutes before the event.

As stated above, the OnePlus Nord launch event begins on July 21 at 10 am ET. It is 7 am PT, 3 pm BST and 7:30 pm IST.
