Honda is making some big changes to its 2021 line, and unfortunately two cars will come to the end of the road. the Honda Civic Coupe and the Adjustment both will go out of production this year.
The Japanese automaker said Friday that production of the Civic Coupe and Fit will end with the 2020 model year. Both represented slow sellers in the lineup, especially as more buyers went home with the Civic Hatchback, instead of the two-door model. Honda stressed that it is still very focused on the Civic lineup, but the sedan will remain its baseline, while the hatchback offers the sportier option.
Sales of the Civic Hatchback have increased to 24% of the model’s sales mix since its arrival in 2016. Meanwhile, the Coupe fell from 16% to just 6%. A shame because the coupe is the best aspect of the civic group.
Unfortunately, this also means that If Coupe he’s a goner too. Honda confirmed with Roadshow that the end of the coupe’s body style also means that the two-door Si will not return. Production of the Honda Civic Si will stop overall this year as Honda moves closer to unveiling the next-generation Civic next spring. The Si will return, but it will only have four doors.
2021 Civic sedan and hatchback variants will be transferred from 2020.
As for the Fit, its disappearance was almost confirmed. Honda has already revealed a new Fit for Europe and Japan, but always remained silent about their prospects in the United States. With the Fit dead in the United States, the HR-V And Civic will serve as the automaker’s entry-level models. In fact, Honda said the Civic Hatchback outperforms the Fit 2-1. However, not everything is bad because the automaker said it plans to channel investments outside of the Fit to the HR-V and Civic to further improve them.
The brand also shared some Agreement news, and it’s a mixed bag. On the one hand, we will see a renewed model debut very soon and it will go on sale later this year. On the other hand, Honda said so discontinued manual transmission of the Agreement.
The HR-V and Odyssey It will also be updated and appear in the near future.
