Amber Heard said she “has never felt more alone” than during her lavish wedding to Johnny Depp, a celebration that ended in a fight over her alleged drug use, a court heard Monday.
The 34-year-old actress, who married Depp in February 2015 on her private island in the Bahamas, revealed the depressing reality of her nuptials in a statement filed as part of Depp’s libel suit against The Sun newspaper.
“I tried to smile and entertain our guests. But I’ve never felt more alone in my life, “Heard said in the statement.
Heard claimed that “they fought on our wedding night over his drug use” after Depp repeatedly disappeared during the celebration on his island Little Hall’s Pond Cay.
“He had lost weight and would disappear in the bathroom for long periods during the wedding,” he said.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor began to act more “possessive” of his new girlfriend on what was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, Heard said.
“He was even more possessive than usual and just didn’t make sense most of the time,” said Heard.
Heard, who divorced Depp after 18 months of marriage, took the stand on Monday for his first day of testimony in his case in a 2018 The Sun article that called him a “handcuff puncher.”
Depp described their volatile relationship over several days of testimony in the case, but vehemently denied all allegations of assault.
