In the past, the Halo brand has collaborated with Mountain Dew and Doritos. This Monster Energy promotion appears to offer “2XP” (presumably double XP) in Halo Infinite, most likely tied to the game’s multiplayer mode. Those who buy a can will need to save their receipt and use the Monster Energy website to redeem the XP benefit. Beneath the text are two small strings of text with the words vers429_ and PWRCK_ – it is not yet clear what they mean, but it could just be flavor text.
It is also worth noting the expiration date of the promotion, 12/31/20. This of course means that Halo Infinite should arrive before the end of the year, but we already knew that. There’s also a ‘Halo Augmented Reality Experience’ activated by scanning the Snapchat code on the side of the can. After checking it out myself, it’s not live right now, but it can be activated after tonight’s Xbox Game Showcase, where the Halo Infinite campaign will premiere.
For more information on Halo Infinite, check out the game box, which was revealed yesterday and bears a striking resemblance to the original key art for Halo: Combat Evolved.
