Halo: Infinite Delays in 2021 – Xbox Series X launches in November

Microsoft puts Halo: Infinite back in the oven. The publisher announced today that it is printing the next Halo game in 2021, so developer 343 Industries may have more time to refine the final product.

This is a big hit for the Xbox Series X, which launches in November. according to Microsoft. Halo: Infinite had to act as the biggest release of that platform at launch. Now, anyone who picks up Series X this holiday will have to wait.

In its messages, Microsoft stated that it does not change its next-gen hardware plans.

Chris Lee, 343 studio head, posted the following message on social media:

Today I want to share an important Halo Infinite development update with the community. We have made the difficult decision to postpone our release to 2021 to ensure that the team has adequate time to deliver a Halo gaming experience that meets our vision.

The decision to postpone our release is the result of several factors that have contributed to development challenges, including the ongoing COVID-related effects that are affecting us all this year. I want to acknowledge the hard work of our team at 343 Industries, who have continued their commitment to creating a great game and finding solutions to development challenges. However, it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team as the overall success of the game to send it this holiday.

We know this will be disappointing to many of you and we all share in that sentiment. The passion and support that the community has shown over the years has been incredible and inspiring. We wanted nothing more than to play our holiday with the community this holiday. The extra time allows us to complete the critical work required to deliver the most ambitious Halo game ever to the quality we know our fans expect.

Thank you very much for your support and understanding.

This move is probably for the best. Halo: Infinite looked entertaining in their gameplay reveal last month, but many fans criticized the visual style. In addition, rumors claim that development of the campaign came in hot and would probably have problems at launch. A delay could prevent a catastrophic first impression for a game that Microsoft wants to last for years.

Update, 12:38 pm with the launch of the Xbox Series X in November.
