Convinced that Greece will support the European course of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaef arrived in Athens, where he will participate in the 24th economist discussion with the Greek Government.

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia held a series of meetings with representatives of the Greek business community and will meet tomorrow with the Greek Prime Minister, K. Mitsotakis and the President of the Republic, K. Sakellaropoulou.

Speaking to euronews, Zoran Zaef expressed his satisfaction with the attitude of the Greek Prime Minister towards his country so far and called for closer cooperation, mainly in the economic sphere.

“Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis already had the opportunity to show his attitude towards North Macedonia. He fought battles for us, battles for our European future, for NATO membership and I am very happy. The Prespa Agreement is over. It is over. Now let’s work together, let’s work, let’s improve the lives of our citizens and I am very happy that the Prime Minister of our southern neighbor has given us a fight for the European path of North Macedonia. “North Macedonia”, he characteristically said .

Regarding his relationship with the Greek prime minister, he replied: “We have communicated sometimes to exchange views, especially on the European Union. It was the moment when the European Council was discussing North Macedonia and President Macron was not. it was very positive. We also communicated when the measures were taken for the coronavirus and he explained to me that the scientific committee of Greece is strict, that the measures taken were not political. “

Zoran Zaef also referred to the tension in the southeastern Mediterranean and called for dialogue between Athens and Ankara.

“The issue is important for the entire region, not just for Greece and Turkey. First of all, I am Zoran Zaef from the Prespa Agreement. And we do it through dialogue, trying to accept and protect the partner of the other party. “I strongly support Turkey’s decision to withdraw the ships and support the commission to reduce the problem,” he said.

The Athens-Skopje agenda includes the North Macedonia European course, but also more technical issues, such as the launch of intergovernmental dialogue committees, the avoidance of double taxation, the protection of investments and the strengthening of employment.
