The amendment for the privatization of the companies LARCO, DEPA Infraestructuras and HEDNO was voted in the plenary session of Parliament, with 158 votes in favor and 140 votes against.
The provisions for the processing of the tender procedures were submitted, as a modification, to the bill that incorporates into the Greek legal system the Directive for the reduction of the use of plastics, which was voted, in principle, on the articles and in their entirety by majority.
On the principle of the plastics bill, the parties positioned themselves as follows: ND voted “yes”, SYRIZA “present”, the Movement for Change voted “yes”, the KKE, the Hellenic Solution and the MERA25 voted “not”.
The amendment of the ND MP Giorgos Amyras for the extension of the transit measures was approved by a majority and the parties were positioned as follows: ND voted “yes”, SYRIZA, the Movement for Change and MERA25 voted “no”, the KKE and the Hellenic Solution voted “present”.
The KKE, SYRIZA and the Movement for Change had called for a roll call vote on the privatization amendment.
Environment and Energy Minister Kostis Hatzidakis had stated during his speech in Parliament that the privatizations are a declared policy of the ND, noting that the amendments include technical details for the tenders to proceed.
However, the opposition as a whole had demanded their withdrawal.
Speaking in plenary, the Head of Environment and Energy of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, Socrates Famellos, during the discussion of the bill, declared that it was inadmissible that the Minister of Environment and Energy at the end of the four meetings in the ND Commissions but also promoting the sale of public goods which, it seems, are a top priority for Mr. Hatzidakis and the government.
The amendments, however, raise other serious issues such as RES investment licensing, RES project license extensions, corrections to the electricity law, corrections and changes to the environmental advisors law, corrections to Energy Planning Daily and of course regulations for three. “This while in the Conference of Presidents almost all the Parliamentary Groups had requested and made sure that irrelevant and serious amendments will not be presented,” he stressed.
For his part, the general secretary of KE of the KKE Dimitris Koutsoumbas had pointed out that the ND government “is preparing today to complete its criminal plan for LARCO”, a plan that “was implemented step by step by all governments so far and it aims at further devaluation, privatization and even the definitive closure of the company. “
As he has pointed out, the plan is criminal because LARCO is not just any company, but a “company of strategic importance, with great productive potential, which could be used for the development of the country’s economy from the point of view of interests of the Greek people. “
