Tsiodras emphasized that the coronavirus cases were detected in a vulnerable immigrant population setting during a malaria test.

Cases have been isolated pending follow-up.

He even stressed that the positive is that all immigrants in the area are registered and we know who is in each house.

For his part, the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vassilios Papageorgiou said that all the planned measures are in full implementation, while he did not even rule out the possibility of a confinement, something that is currently not being considered.

The officials visited areas of the Municipality of Evrotas, as well as the Municipal Unit of Molaon and met with all the competent local bodies, following the increase in Covid-19 cases in the area among foreign land workers.

The objective of the visit is the on-site assessment of the situation and the best possible coordination of local authorities to take all necessary measures to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

It is observed that since yesterday a unit of the National Public Health Organization (EODY) carried out extensive tests to detect the SARS-CoV2 virus in the wider area of ​​the Municipality of Evrotas in Laconia.

Over 150 rapid tests have already been carried out on close contacts resulting from extensive monitoring and inspections will continue in surrounding areas, in order to detect and limit the possible spread of the coronavirus in the community.
